PreEvent Inspection

If you are thinking of coming out to your first Autocross there are some things you should check on your car to save you some hassle at the event.

Battery- The most common problem with new participants.  Your battery must be securely mounted in the vehicle.  If possible simply use the factory installed equipment to ensure the battery will not move around.  If that is no longer possible you can check your local auto parts store for generic battery hold-down parts.  Worst case a good locking cargo strap will work.  Do not use elastic bands or bungee cords, they are designed to stretch and will usually not keep the battery firmly in place.

Tires- Tires do not have to have tread, but they can not have cord showing.  If you look over your tires and can see anything but rubber those tires are dangerous and can not be used at the event.  I do not recommend using them on the street either.

Interior and Trunk- You will want the car free of loose objects that may move during the event.  You can take them out before the event, but the more stuff you leave home the easier it will be at the event.  Spare tires, jacks and tools that come with the car are normally secured and can be left in.  The box of spare parts in the trunk, the pile of empty water bottles in the back seat and the dozen stuffed animals in the back window need to come out.

What about my subwoofer, amp, speakers, capacitor, etc?

Same as above, if they are not attached securely to the car they will need to come out.  Either leave them at home or bring the proper tools and be prepared to remove them at the event.  Don't forget the electrical tape to cover any loose power wires if needed.

Helmet- Must be SNELL 1995 or newer rated.  Look inside for a SNELL sticker.  We do not care if the helmet is DOT rated, that is not good enough.  We do have helmets to lend you if you need one.

Nitrous- If you have NOS in your car, please leave the bottle at home.  NOS is a big problem for us because the rules say you can not run the event with a bottle in the car, so you pull it out and then we have a loose bottle at the event and that is also dangerous.  Please notice I did not say full bottle.  We will treat EVERY bottle as a full bottle.
